Studio has always practiced "Community Cuts," free haircuts for people who are searching for employment. Call if you know someone who would appreciate that attention.

Rick Bach
Born and raised in Greater Providence, Rhode Island, Rick began his career with an apprenticeship at the legendary Christiaan salon in Providence which also held locations in Newport and throughout Holland. He left as Creative Director before relocating to Connecticut in 1979. While becoming an in-demand stylist and a sought-after hair and make-up talent for editorial work, Rick opened Studio in West Hartford with a sister salon in Amsterdam during 1988. From its inception, it was markedly different from other salons. Focused on excellence in all aspects of hair, Studio was and remains committed to providing clients with more – with an experience. Rick’s career has been notable for his professional achievements and innovation while also for his widespread efforts to raise awareness and funds for the needs of the community - but that's another story. He continues to take classes at Vidal Sassoon salons throughout the world. Studio's policy has always been to carry clients who were in unfortunate financial straits, but began the Community Cuts program, providing free haircuts to unemployed individuals seeking work. Studio changed locations to 17 Oakwood Ave, also in West Hartford in 1999, thus the evolution to Studio Salon and Gallery. He features the work of emerging artists of Greater Hartford, with exhibits changing several times throughout the year. And, as an accomplished painter with many awards and commissions to his credit, Rick’s artistry is as evident with a palette and canvas as it is with a scissors and comb. Nona Channer
Nona has been an integral member of the Studio team with more than thirty years with Rick. She remains the “glue” that keeps the salon thriving. An exceptionally versed stylist with training rooted in European as well as Vidal Sassoon techniques, Nona has unique gifts in the area of color technology. Clients come from far and wide to benefit from her foiling techniques and it is not uncommon to hear . . . " no one does color like Nona ."

Ray DeCampos
From the graduation class of the Connecticut Institute of Hair Design, Ray was chosen by Rick Bach to be a part of the Studio team. His tenure began with a demanding two-year apprenticeship, working closely with Rick. Ray’s training also included time with their sister salon in Amsterdam where he was tutored by some of Europe’s most talented hairdressers and stylists. Ray has also earned certification from the New York branch of London’s prestigious Jingles Academy.
